Advice for the Next Generation of Lawyers | Bob Kelley at NSU Law School
Robert W. Kelley, Founding Partner at Kelley | Uustal Trial Attorneys, shares his advice for the next generation of trial lawyers after receiving the Distinguished Alumni Award from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law at an orientation ceremony for the Class of 2029.
Dean Olympia Ross Duhart introduced Kelley, a 1981 NSU Law graduate and former editor-in-chief of the Nova Law Review, by recounting two of his landmark trial verdicts: a $60 million judgment against General Motors after a fatal fuel tank fire, and a $300 million verdict against Philip Morris on behalf of Cindy Naugle, at the time the largest award ever given to an individual suing a tobacco company.
In his address, Kelley urged the incoming class to remember that law is a profession, not a business, and challenged them to become champions for the people who will one day need them.
